Photography: Attempts at Recreating Reality ...
Welcome to my page. My name is Hussein Gohar and my passion is photography. I’d like to introduce you to the world I am discovering.
By profession I am a gynaecologist and a surgeon, this is how most people know and define me, but I like to say that I am a lot of other things as well: a father, a musician, a patriot, an adventurer, a reader, a learner and an observer with a strong desire in finding meaning in the abstract…
My interest in photography goes back to my first camera at the age of seven; a plastic toy that I couldn't put down. Many years later, the advent of digital photography, coupled with my passion for history and adventure led me to purchase my first DSLR camera. I remember I was atop Mount Kilimanjaro in 2004 when I thought. “I can not only freeze the moment….but also recreate it ...."
From this day onwards, my worldwide travels, my pursuits and my interests have all been reflected in my photography.
However, because of the political unrest in Egypt, my home-country, and the occasional difficulties when going around with a camera, more of my recent work is directed towards photo art.
Starting 2015 I held a number of exhibitions and displayed my works on the walls of several galleries in Egypt. Proceeds from selling my work is directed towards helping the sick and underprivileged receive high quality health treatments at my family hospital…. As I said I am also a doctor.
Hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
